Retrieving the American Past (RTAP) is a customized U.S. history reader the history department publishes as a joint project with Pearson Custom Publishing. RTAP allows history teachers to choose from among over 80 topic chapters. Each chapter includes an introduction, primary and secondary sources, discussion questions, recommended readings, and a "guide to teaching" section. It is one of the top selling course readers in the country.

Exploring the European Past: Texts and Images (ETEP) is a customized reader published with Thomson Custom Publishing, and is designed to fit any Western Civilization course. In addition to receiving a printed textbook with thematic chapters containing primary and secondary sources, adopters of ETEP also have access to an online resource that includes full-color visual sources (photographs, architecture, art, artifacts) and animated maps. The electronic component is provided at no additional charge with the purchase of a new reader.
